Fort Chamber’s ‘Giant Red Box Giveaway’ winners announced

Winners of the “Giant Red Box Giveaway” have been announced by the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce.

The event was held in conjunction with the Holiday Open House and Market. The holiday open house was held Dec. 4 and a drawing for the giveaway was held Dec. 8, Carrie Chisholm, Executive Director of the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce said.

During the holiday open house, those shopping at participating businesses could place their receipts in a big red box. A drawing was held, at which time those participants whose receipts were drawn from the box, won a prize.

A grand prize, including $1,300 worth of gifts supplied by 27 Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce members, was awarded to Erica Schueler, Chisholm said.

Schueler entered the winning receipt after shopping at MK Cellular, 730 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson.

Another $200 worth of chamber gift certificates were distributed among three other winners. They were Cindy Bauman, Betsy Gasper, and Dana Davis.

In a recent press release submitted by the chamber, Chisholm addressed the importance of holiday shopping to area retailers, saying that they depend on seasonal shopping for as much as 20% of their annual revenue.

Pointing to the value of the holiday open house, she said, the chamber collected over 125 receipts which served as entries in the Giant Red Box Giveaway from 22 individual businesses and eight market vendors, totaling nearly $2,000 in purchases on December 4.

During the open house, more than 40 vendors participated, selling a variety of products, ranging from baked goods and fresh produce to Christmas wreaths and handmade jewelry. The top floor of the Fort Atkinson Club also served as a temporary gallery for art created by Fort Atkinson High School students.

In addition, the event included a number of holiday activities, such as strolling carolers from A Matter of FACT, an a cappella singing group; hay wagon rides through the streets of downtown Fort Atkinson with Santa and Mrs. Claus, provided by Badger Bank; a Winter Mini-Mart provided by the First Congregational Church, and a Cookie Cupboard, provided by St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Donors for the Giant Red Box Giveaway included: A Better Physique, American Wholesale Furniture, Beauty & the Bean, Brindle Ink, Capputan, Crimson Salon & Spa, Culver’s, Faces on Main, Feather Your Nest, Five Star Antiques & Vintage, Fort Ace Hardware, Frostie Freeze, Hippychick Penny’s Soaps & Body Care, Hometown Pharmacy, Humphrey Floral & Gift, Jones Market, Kaleidoscope Fibers, Krueger Jeweler, Lamp Post Inn, MK Cellular, Mr. Brews Taphouse, Paddy Coughlin’s Pub, Pick ‘n Save, Piper Mae, Rock Paper Scissors Styling Lounge, Ryan Ebert LLC, and Tuttle’s Hallmark Shop.
