The city of Fort Atkinson will be under a snow emergency beginning at 8 p.m. and lasting until 8 a.m. tomorrow.
According to information supplied by the city, a Snow Emergency will be enacted, as stipulated by city ordinance, when the city of Fort Atkinson accumulates greater than two inches of snowfall within a 24-hour period.
In preparation for the upcoming winter storm, which is predicted to deliver between two and four inches of snow, the city of Fort Atkinson has declared a Snow Emergency to take effect 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28, until 8 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29. During that time, all vehicles must be removed from public streets, alleys and parking lots, according to the information released.
The Department of Public Works will maintain the collector and arterial streets to the best of its ability during the event and move into the residential areas in the overnight hours. The City of Fort Atkinson strives to ensure the safety of our community, the release continued.
During inclement weather, the city will provide updates via its website, social media and local media outlets.

According to the site, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect and will remain in place until midnight. A “mixed precipitation” is expected with snow accumulations of up to 4 inches. Slippery road conditions are also anticipated.
