I retired in 2015 after 40 years as a teacher in K-12 public schools. During those years I saw incredible changes in American culture, families and media. Now on top of that we have the pandemic and the question of in-person or at-home learning. Divisive politics has leaked into school board meetings as well.
There is nothing more important than the education of our children. They are literally our future.
When I first moved to Fort Atkinson after retiring from teaching, I worked as an aide at Luther Elementary and then in the Middle School kitchen. I found the people in the Fort School District to be dedicated to their jobs and the well-being of the children in their charge. They deserve our support in these difficult times.
This school board election is very important to show our educators that we support them. I have known and worked with both Robynn Selle and Matt Loup, and wholeheartedly endorse their candidacies. They are parents, as well as effective problem-solvers, and will have my vote.
Vote in the Fort Atkinson school board primary on February 15.
