Fort’s ‘Lemonade Day’ returns

The Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the return of “Lemonade Day” according to a recent release.

The event will be held May 7.

Students throughout the Fort Atkinson community are invited to participate by setting up their own lemonade stand and exploring the concept of running a small business.

Participating children who register for the event will each receive a free backpack with an “Entrepreneur Workbook,” teaching them such values as: how to set a goal, make a plan, work the plan and achieve their dreams.

Once a youth pays back their investor(s), they keep all of the money they earn and are encouraged to spend some, save some, and share some of their profits, the release stated.

According to the release, Lemonade Day made it debut in 2019. This year marks the second in which the chamber — in partnership with the Fort Community Credit Union and Badgerland Afterschool Enrichment Program (BASE) — is sponsoring the free, fun, and experiential learning program that teaches kids how to start, own and operate their very own business.

Members of the public are invited to participate by supporting the young entrepreneurs as mentors, investors and business partners, as well as providing great locations from which stands can operate and visiting the stands as customers. Sponsors and volunteers are also needed to make Lemonade Day a success, the release continued.

Registration is open, with backpack pickup scheduled to begin Monday, March 14. Students, volunteers, and sponsors can register at www.lemonadeday/fortatkinson.org. Registration forms are also available at the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce, BASE sites, and at area financial institutions: FCCU, Johnson Bank, and Badger Bank, according to the release.
