The City of Fort Atkinson has announced it will be hosting two public information sessions regarding the public safety referendum that will appear on the spring general election ballot.
The sessions — one held in February and the other in March — will be hosted both in-person and virtually.
“The City of Fort Atkinson has identified a need to increase public safety funding, and voters will see a public safety referendum on their ballots this spring. We are looking forward to providing the residents of Fort Atkinson with additional information about the need ahead of the referendum vote, as well as an opportunity to ask questions they may have,” City Manager Rebecca Houseman LeMire was quoted as saying in a recent press release announcing the upcoming sessions.
The first informational session will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. The second will be held Wednesday, March 9 at 3 p.m. Both will include a presentation from LeMire as well as a question-and-answer segment with city council members, City of Fort Atkinson Police Chief Adrian Bump and City of Fort Atkinson Fire Chief Daryl Rausch.
Those interested in participating in either session can join via Zoom or in-person at the Fort Atkinson Municipal building, 101 N. Main St. A Zoom account is not necessary to join the virtual meeting, and members of the public can join via smartphone or computer, according to the release.
