A statewide snowmobiling initiative called “Kids and Adults on Sleds (KAOS)” will be explored as a programming option for clubs in Jefferson, Walworth and Rock counties, Thursday, March 3.
According to information supplied on the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs (AWSC), the program is designed to “give the youth an in-depth understanding of how the total snowmobile program is organized, starting from the local clubs, to the county organizations and up to the state program.”
The website states: “We need to train our young members to take over leadership roles in order to keep the AWSC strong. KAOS is a club where you will learn to be leaders, make friends, achieve goals, attend events and do fun activities.”
Those interested in learning more about the KAOS program, or snowmobiling in the area in general, are invited to attend the regular meeting of the Walworth County Snowmobile Alliance, which is slated to take place at the East Troy House Restaurant and Bar, 2093 Division, St., East Troy. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.
According to Dan Knop, president of the Lakes Drift Riders snowmobile club in Lake Geneva, and who is among organizers presenting the KAOS concept, a representative of each of the three county’s alliances will be on hand Thursday to facilitate consideration of the program across the three counties.
In a recent interview, Knop said, the meeting seemed like the best place to introduce the idea of starting a KAOS program in Walworth, Jefferson and Rock counties.
Of Wisconsin’s 72 counties, Knop said, 22 currently have embraced the KAOS concept.
According to the Walworth County Snowmobile Alliance Facebook page, the alliance consists of 14 local clubs and maintains over 240 state-funded trails.
