The School District of Fort Atkinson has released a list of names of students who have been designated AP (Advanced Placement) scholars.
According to the College Board/AP website, each fall, the AP Program recognizes high school students who demonstrate outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP exams.
On Monday, the district released the names of 25 Fort Atkinson High School students who have been recognized by the AP Program. A list is provided below.
Stacci Barganz, the district’s gifted and talented coordinator noted in an email, that students are listed with their grade levels from the last school year.
AP exams are scored using a 5-point scale, with 5 representing the top score.
Awards are offered at several levels, each with differing criteria.
Award levels include: AP Scholar, granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams; AP Scholar with Honor, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams, and AP Scholar with Distinction, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of exams taken.
Among the those recognized, Barganz, noted, are two students — Mackenzie Kuska and Elee Sharp — both of whom have been invited to apply for status as National Merit Scholars.
“They will go through the process to possibly become National Merit Semifinalists or Finalists,” Barbanz wrote.
