The Irvin L. Young Memorial Library has released its programming slated to take place in May.
The library is located at 431 West Center St., Whitewater.
Programming for adults
• Among programs offered next month is a workshop for those interested in participating in the city’s Spring 2022 Public Art Project. The workshop is sponsored in collaboration with the Whitewater Arts Alliance. Participants will join together to decorate a large wooden page which will be hung on a lamppost along Main Street. The workshop, titled: “The Color of Literature,” is offered to adults on Monday, May 16, at 1 p.m. Registration is not required. • A “Take and Make” kit to make felt bird bookmarks also is available to adults. The kits will be offered for pickup beginning May 23 and will remain available while supplies last.
• “Crafternoon,” a program in which participants will make decoupage flower pots, will be offered Friday, May 6, at 1 p.m. Registration is not required.
Programming for children
Several programs designed to appeal to children also will be held in May.
They include:
• “May the Fourth be with You,” a program recommended for children in sixth grade and above. The activity focuses on making an LED light saber card and scratch coding projects. “Help build our R2D2 droid,” information provided by the library states. The activity is offered Tuesday, May 4, at 4 p.m.
• A “Take and Make Kit for Kids,” featuring a “DIY Kaleidoscope,” will be made available beginning May 9. The kits will remain available for pickup while supplies last.
• “Maker Club,” designed to appeal to children ages 5-12, will provide opportunities for participants to make polymer clay creations. The activity is offered Thursday, May 19, at 4 p.m.
