The League of Women Voters-Whitewater Area has announced that it will be holding a book club meeting focusing on diversity.
According to a recent press release, the public is invited to join in the club discussion which seeks to help participants become more informed advocates.
The club will explore the league’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policy through meaningful discussions of current notable books dealing with public policy issues of interest to the league, according to the release.
The next book discussion will focus on a book titled: “White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism,” by Robin DiAngelo. The discussion will be led by Dwight Watson. The meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, May 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Included in the discussion will be pages ix to 98, which includes the forward through Chapter 6, the release noted.
