The city of Whitewater and the Whitewater Arts Alliance have announced that they will be jointly sponsoring two free workshops which will be offered in tandem with the season’s upcoming concert series, titled: “Savory Sounds.”
The workshops will be held Thursdays, June 23 and July 21, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the Cultural Arts Center, 402 West Main St.
According to information released by the sponsors, music therapist Noelle Larson will lead young children, parents, and caregivers as they learn adaptive coping strategies for home and school by using music, movement, and art.
Registration for the events is required. Those interested may visit the city’s webpage: www.wwparks.org. Registration deadlines are June 21 and July 19.
After the workshop, participants are invited to stay for the Savory Sounds musical performances and lunches, which include:
- The Brothers Quinn, scheduled to perform June 23. The group plays Celtic, rock, country, and bluegrass music with a lunch option made available on site by food vendor La Preferida.
- Ken Lonnquist and Friends, scheduled to perform July 21. The group plays family friendly music with a lunch option made available on site by food vendor Rocky Rococo.
Following the performances, participants are invited to explore the exhibitions on display within the Cultural Arts Center.
Throughout June, a joint exhibition titled: “Explorations: Photographs by Jeff McDonald” and “Around and Around” by Mary Nevicosi will be available for viewing.
In July, the gallery will be hosting the 13th Annual Fran Achen Photography Contest, featuring photographs taken by members of the community. The event is held in honor of the late Fran Achen. Parking for visitors to the Cultural Art Center is found behind the building. An elevator is available to provide access to the building from the parking lot.
