The Whitewater Arts Alliance has announced that it will be featuring a Halloween-themed art exhibition titled: “Hallow’s Gala” through to the end of October.
The exhibition is on display for in-person viewing at the Whitewater Cultural Arts Center, 402 West Main St., and virtually. The exhibition will remain available for in-person viewing until Sunday, Oct. 30, according to a recent news release.
The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The exhibition will be available online for virtual viewing from Oct. 29 to Nov. 27, and will include exclusive virtual-only pieces.
Reception, costume contest with prizes
In addition, the Whitewater Arts Alliance will be holding a Hallow’s Gala reception, Friday, Oct. 28, between 6 and 9 p.m., at the Cultural Arts Center. Reception-goers will find live music and a costume contest, along with the announcement of award winners chosen from within the pool of artists exhibiting work in the Hallow’s Gala exhibition, the release noted.
Those participating in the costume contest can win prizes, including “Best Adult Costume,” $75, and “Best Kid Costume,” open to children 12 and under, $25.
Participating artists in the exhibition also will win prizes, including “Best of Show,” $150, and “Viewer’s Choice, $50. Those voting for the viewer’s choice recipient may cast one vote each, with all votes tallied at 7:30 p.m.
Winners in both contests will be announced during the reception at 8 p.m.
The cost of an adult ticket to attend the reception is $5 for those buying advance tickets online before Sunday, Oct. 23. The cost of an adult ticket is $8 for those buying tickets at the door. Tickets for children, ages 5-12, are $2 each. There is no cost of attendance for children under the age of 4.
Attending the reception also is free with the purchase of a black light painting kit. Kits cost $25 each.

About the exhibition
According to a news release, throughout the month of October, the Whitewater Arts Alliance is presenting the Hallow’s Gala exhibition, which features art with themes of folklore, mythology and fantasy in honor of the spooky season. Nineteen artists are participating in the show with 2D and 3D art, varying in mediums including pencil, ink, acrylic, ceramic, photography, mixed media and unique materials like coffee, abalone shells, and video format, among others. There are 58 pieces in the show of which 3 will be virtual only.
The Whitewater Cultural Arts Center is open Thursdays through Sundays, 1-5 p.m., with the exception of Thursday, Oct. 27, when the gallery will be open from 3-7 p.m., which coincides with Ghouls Night Out, an event featuring trick-or-treating and games sponsored by the Whitewater Chamber of Commerce.

A mixed media 3D piece is titled: “Fallen Twins.” The piece is the work of Katrine Renee.
“Soulless,” an oil painting, is the work of Sue Herring.
A small theater showcases Halloween-themed art in film. Among shorts available for viewing is “Beware the Unseen,” filmed near Whitewater’s old water tower in Starin Park. The film is directed by Ashley McDarison, Nick Themar and Kyle Thurow.
