Letter to the editor:
Thanks to the many, many individuals who bought brats and hot dogs at our Brat Sale on Oct. 22, as well as the numerous individuals who just plain made donations to support the Homeless Coalition of Fort Atkinson. It was a huge success. We ran out of brats. We helped raise enough to provide funds to support those in need through the year. In these times of more and more need, every dollar raised helps another stay warm and housed. Although some individuals refuse help and choose to live outside, the vast majority are looking for ways to provide for themselves or their families and to better themselves. We try to be a hand up, not just a hand out.
Special thanks to Fort Community Credit Union for provided a place, volunteers, and promotion of our event. Also, thanks to Anderson Apple Orchard for the apples, Pick n’ Save Foods for their donation of brats and hot dogs at a discount, Kwik Trip for providing buns and soda, and Ozinga concrete for providing a generous donation — as well as much needed grill and cooking help. Mostly, thanks to Brenda Manthey for her time and energy devoted to helping others and organizing the event.
Thank you to all who attended the brat sale and who made donations.
