Evers retains seat

Gov. Tony Evers, the incumbent Democratic Party candidate running Tuesday against Republican challenger Tim Michels has retained his seat. 

Numbers published on ballotpedia.org early Wednesday morning note that statewide Evers received 51% of the vote while Michels received 48%. The ballotpedia.org page is here: https://ballotpedia.org/Tony_Evers. 

Additionally, the site reported that Sara Rodriguez, who ran alongside Evers for the position of lieutenant governor, earned favorable results from voters across the state, receiving 51.5% of the vote. Her Republican challenger, Roger Roth, received 48.5%. The ballotpedia.org page reporting results from the lieutenant governor’s race is here: https://ballotpedia.org/Sara_Rodriguez. 

In Jefferson County, Michels and his running mate, Roth, came out ahead in the polls, receiving 21,485 or 55.16% of the vote. Evers and Rodriguez earned 16,762 or 43.04% of the vote. 

Independent Party gubernatorial candidate Joan Ellis Beglinger, whose name remained on the ballot after she withdrew from the race, earned 425 or 1.09% of the vote. 

Tallies in Jefferson County were complete with the race’s 33 precincts reporting. 

In Walworth County, with all of the race’s 37 precincts counted, the team of Michels/Roth emerged as frontrunners, earning 26,695 votes to Evers and Rodriguez’s 18,565 votes. Beglinger received 604 votes.
