The Jefferson Police Department responded Sunday to reports of “shots fired from a vehicle,” according to information released by the department Monday.
According to the release, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the city of Jefferson Police Department responded to a report of shots fired from a vehicle in the 200 Block of South High Avenue.
Three adults and two juveniles were in a residence within the 200 block at the time of the incident. No injures where reported by any of the occupants of the residence. Investigators at the scene recovered four shell casings from the roadway and two bullets were recovered from the ground in front of the residence. One bullet did strike a door frame of the residence, according to the release.
Four juvenile suspects, ranging in age from between 14 and 16, were identified and questioned by investigators. One juvenile male was taken into protective custody pending placement to a more secure facility by Jefferson County Human Services, the release stated.
Responding Officers were assisted by deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Preliminary charges of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Minor in Possession of a Firearm are being forwarded to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for review, the release noted.
The release indicated that the case is being considered an isolated incident and is currently under active investigation by the Jefferson Police Department.
