The Fort Atkinson chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has announced that its annual book sale will be held Friday, Sept. 16, and Saturday, Sept. 17.
According to information released by the association, the sale will be held at the Fort Atkinson Municipal Building, 101 N. Main St., Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Saturday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. A “bag sale” will be held Saturday between 1 and 3 p.m. During the bag sale, patrons are invited to fill a grocery bag with books for a single charge of $10.
The AAUW book sale has been offered to the public since 1979, the release stated, further describing the sale as the association’s “chief fundraising activity.” Proceeds are used to fund college scholarships for area women.
“The community has been donating books for the last three months and the quality and diversity of the books this year has been outstanding. Along with the usual romance, fiction, mystery, cookbook, and nonfiction donations we see each year, this year there were some very special contributions that will make some local readers very happy. There was a large bulk donation of large print books, an entire collection of golf books, a library of classic novels of the 1940s and 1950s, a very large selection of young children’s books, some special old and collectible books, and a collection of gardening and landscaping books gifted from a local master gardener,” the release noted.
