The Fort Atkinson Branch of the American Association of University Women has completed the summer-long sorting and boxing of donated books in preparation of this week’s used book sale at the Fort Atkinson Municipal Building, 101 N. Main St.
According to a recent press release, the sale will take place Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
With more than 520 boxes filled, there will be thousands of books from which to choose, organizers say. Categories include biographies, the classics, history, fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, religion, romance, westerns, reference, psychology, science fiction, mysteries and many others.
There also is an extensive collection of children, young adult books and educational material.
“If you are into old and collectible books, you need to stop by, as there is an extensive assortment of rare and hard to find gems” organizers said within the release.
A new feature at the sale this year will be $5 grab-and-go mystery bags. These bags will be pre-filled with high-quality books from a select genre and available on a no-peek, cash-and-carry basis.
Weather permitting, the Grab-and-Go Mystery Sale will be outside in a tent. In the event of inclement weather, it will be moved indoors.
The Fort Atkinson Branch of AAUW is dedicated to supporting the education needs of the women of Fort Atkinson and the surrounding area. The organization does that by providing scholarships annually to deserving women. The proceeds of the annual book sale support these scholarship funds, the organization’s press release stated.
