ADRC announces July, August programming

The following programs will be hosted through the Aging and Disabilities Resource Center (ADRC) of Jefferson County in July and August, according to a recent press release. 

Programs and dates are as follows: 

  • Driving and Dementia Presentation, July 14, from noon to 1 p.m.  The program outlines medical conditions and medications that may hinder a person’s ability to drive. The program will be presented by Frankie Spencer, Medical Review and Fitness Team lead with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and Sarah Nelson and Alyssa Tripi, both with the Watertown Regional Medical Center Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Clinic.   • Joyful Chatter Book Club, featuring: “Creating Moments of Joy,” by Jolene Brackey. The program will be held on Mondays, from July 12 to Aug. 16, between 1 and 2 p.m. To register, call 608-785-5700 or email: kflock@lacrossecounty.org by July 6. 
  • “Not the Same Person: What to Expect in Dementia,” is a virtual or call-in program which will be presented Aug. 5, starting at 10 a.m. The program features Dr. Alexis Eastman from the University of Wisconsin-Madison who is a geriatrician working at UW clinics for primary care and memory disorder diagnosis associated with the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute. Some objectives of the presentation include learning about the progression of dementia in terms of behaviors and functions, and understanding options of both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches for addressing concerning behavior.
