The Fort Atkinson Senior Center Annual Craft Fair and Bake Sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, according to information released by sale organizers.
The sale has been a holiday favorite in the area for at least the last seven years, and likely beyond, said Crystal Porter, a spokesperson for the event.
This year, the sale will feature a variety of homemade crafts, including knitted items such as purses, wallets and scarves, and other crafts such as quilts and birdhouses, to name a few, Porter told Fort Atkinson Online in a recent email.
Most of the event’s crafters have shown their wares before and enjoy returning for the holiday event, Porter said.
The event includes a bake sale. Many of the baked goods are made by the crafters and are submitted as donations by members of the community for sale at the senior center, Porter noted.
Proceeds from the sale support “the betterment of the Fort Atkinson Senior Center. This is a board of directors event to help in raising funds for the senior center,” Porter added.
The First Congregational Church will also be on hand to operate a table from which patrons can buy such goodies as peanuts and mincemeat, she said.
“It is a community event and we love to have people come to our senior center and take in what we do here and what we are all about,” Porter noted.
Attending the event is free and open to the public.
The fair and sale will open at 9 a.m. and close at 1 p.m.
Lunch is available on site from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, or until the food runs out.
“We are serving homemade BBQ, chips, cookie and a drink for $5. There will be table seating for the lunch,” Porter added.
As a COVID-19 precaution, visitors to the senior center are encouraged to wear masks. The center is a city-owned building, and mask protocols are currently in place in the city’s buildings, Porter said.
The Fort Atkinson Senior Center is located at 307 Robert St.
