Two area clerks were recognized with words and tokens of appreciation by an impromptu group of community members, according to information shared with Fort Atkinson Online by Kathleen Townsend, a community member who helped organize the group.
In a phone interview earlier this week, Townsend noted that Tuesday, April 12, was National Clerk Appreciation Day.
She noted that a group of area residents had formed to present area clerks with tokens of appreciation.
On Tuesday, the group presented City of Fort Atkinson Clerk Michelle Ebbert and Town of Koshkonong Clerk Bridget Woods each with a token of appreciation in the form of a “large thank you card,” Townsend said.
The purpose of the cards and small ceremonies held at each clerk’s respective municipal building was to let the clerks know that they and their work are appreciated, Townsend continued.
“We want to let them know how much they are appreciated for all of their hard work and dedication ensuring that Wisconsin elections run smoothly. They are the backbone of our democracy and for that (they) are true heroes,” she said.
