Bernadine R. Ezell “Bernie”, 60, of Kenosha passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in Waterloo.
Bernie was born on September 7, 1963 in Antioch, California to Bernard and Audrey (Deming) Kerce. Bernie’s father was a chief petty officer in the United States Coast Guard, so the family of seven moved up and down the coast of California. She owned and operated Captain Bernie’s seafood in Natchez, Mississippi where she loved to be behind the crawfish pot boiling fresh seafood or frying catfish. Bernie was a friend to everyone she met and would give you the shirt off her back. She wouldn’t go a day without her family knowing how much she loved them, making sure to tell them every time they spoke.
Bernie enjoyed making jewelry, making blankets, sewing, and was an avid Milwaukee Bucks and Packers fan. She was proud of her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her daughters.
Bernie is survived by daughters, Audrey (Sean) Walsh, Alexandra (Chris Smart) Ezell; grandchildren, Savannah Walsh, Olivia Walsh; sisters, Clara (Robert) Smith, Lizabeth (Robert) Wolf; nieces, Amy Bader, Amanda Foley, Katelin Gallion; nephews, Zachary Knore, Joshua Gallion; brother-in-law, Dennis Knore; and ex-husband, Eddie Ezell.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Audrey Kerce; siblings, Kathleen Anne Knore, Raymond Preston Kerce.
A celebration of Bernie’s life will be scheduled for a later date.
