Bernadine Weber Fry passed away on December 29, 2023 at her home with her daughter, Sheila by her side. She was born in Fort Atkinson on July 21, 1928, the daughter of Gerald and Marcella Young.
Bernadine was a 1946 graduate of Fort Atkinson High School and attended State Teachers College in Milwaukee. In 1948 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Weber, after his Navy discharge. Together they raised two daughters. They were married nearly 36 years when he passed away in 1984. In 1986 she married another classmate, Wallace Fry. They had almost18 years together traveling to many parts of the world before he passed away in 2004.
She was a retiree of Fort Atkinson Hospital business office and spent her time as a volunteer in the hospital auxiliary as well as V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary. She was a member of Fort Atkinson First United Methodist Church and its Women’s Circle 7. In her late years, her religious life was changing and she felt drawn to the church of her baptism. This was St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Fort Atkinson. It was a comfort to become a member at age 94. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and most of all loved spending time with her family.
Bernadine is survived by her daughters Sheila (David) Trieloff of Fort Atkinson and Leigh Sobe of Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughters Kaili (David) Tews, Kelsey (Devin) Wyngard, Kirsten (Conner) Roland, Klaire Trieloff and Kelly Sobe and a grandson Robert Sobe. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren; Sara, Noah and Parker Tews; Audra, Emme and Brecken Wyngard and Amelia Roland.
She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Delores Pells and two brothers, Morville Chapman and Theodore Young.
Her fond statements regarding her long life. “I’ve been so blessed with all these years. It’s been a wonderful journey! Love God, Love One Another!”
The family wishes to thank the many nurses, aides and staff of Rainbow Hospice Care for all the wonderful care and kindness given to Bernadine.
A private family service will be held.
Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
