Black Hawk Artists work available for viewing through Nov. 17

The Black Hawk Artists kicked off their 49th annual show with a reception recently at the Hoard Historical Museum in Fort Atkinson.

The opening reception took place Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m., with more than 200 attendees counted as of 2:30 p.m.

The artwork is available for viewing through Thursday, Nov. 17, during the museum’s regular hours of  9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

During the opening reception, the Fort Atkinson High School Chamber Orchestra performed, directed by orchestra teacher Bill Callaway.

Included within works on display and for sale are those from 13 of the group’s members, with each offering individual interpretations of this year’s theme: “Out on a Limb,” showcased within a hallway leading into the show.

Additionally, hundreds of cards, including those handmade and some that are prints of original works, frame the entryway into the museum’s Jones Family Gallery, where more than 100 pieces of art are exhibited.

The show features works of diverse mediums, including those of ceramics, fiber, paintings, jewelry and sculptures. Paintings and 2D works represent a range of mediums, including acrylic, ink, oil and pastels.

Members of the Black Hawk Artists are Jan Gilkey, Priscilla Heussner, Judith Henning, Jan Holewinski, Julia Ince, Sally Koehler, Mary Pratt and Angela Hamele Szabo, all of Fort Atkinson; Janet Nelson and Mary Wallace, both of Cambridge; Karen Gomez, Jefferson; Karen Crosby, Lake Mills; and Linda Tump, Whitewater.
