Brian Frank Mitchell, 62, of Fort Atkinson passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 21, 2022.
Brian was born on October 22, 1959 in Canton, South Dakota to Wayne and Mary (Sturzl) Mitchell. He grew up in a large family that knew how to live each day to the fullest keeping to the motto “Life is Good.” After graduating high school, Brian joined the United State Marine Corp. He resided in Wisconsin for over 40 years and managed operations at the Doskocil/Tyson plant for decades until the plant closed. He then chose to combine his love for driving with his passion for traveling by becoming a truck driver working for Gallitz Grading Inc. until his passing.
Outside of work, Brian enjoyed riding his antique Harleys, drinking moonshine with his “Fort Family,” taking road trips to the yearly family campout, tooling around on the tractors, scoping out the local live music scene, firing up the grill, and most importantly, making people laugh.
He was a member of the Badger Heritage Chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America.
Brian is survived by his children, Justin Dale Mitchell, Lindsie Mary Winthrop, Zachary James Mitchell; granddaughter, Arya Kristine Winthrop; and siblings, James (Ann) Mitchell, Anne (Scott) Steele, Catherine (Mark) Reeves, Thomas (Anna) Mitchell, and Kristin Brandyberry.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne James Mitchell and Mary Ann Mitchell; and sister, Mary Jo (Dann) Schwinger.
A private memorial service for family will take place at Nitardy Funeral Home.
Brian’s family welcomes community members to join in a celebration of Brian’s life on Saturday, October 29th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Fort Atkinson Club Community Center: 211 S. Water St., Fort Atkinson, WI 53538; everyone is welcome, no invitation necessary.
