Rock River Dental has announced that it will be offering a candy buy-back event aimed at benefiting U.S. troops.
According to information released by the company, kids, ages 12 and under, are invited to bring their extra Halloween candy to Rock River Dental, 1951 Commerce Pkwy, Fort Atkinson, on Tuesday, Nov. 2, between 4 and 6 p.m.
The company will pay $1 per pound, up to 5 pounds, for the extra candy.
The Rock River Dental event is being held in connection with “Operation Gratitude,” a nationwide network of volunteers, according to the program’s website, which works to deliver “care packages for deployed troops across the globe. The packages deliver a much-needed morale boost to troops overseas and include handwritten letters of appreciation from grateful Americans.”
Past programming has delivered care packages with such items as snacks, hygiene products and other “comfort items,” the website continued, adding: “It’s a small reminder for these servicemen and women who are far from home that they are supported and appreciated,”
According to information released by Rock River Dental, “teaching children the value of giving back by donating Halloween candy in support of Operation Gratitude is a win-win for kids, parents, and dentists.”
Children participating in the program will receive a goodie bag, snack, and will be entered into a drawing for an Amazon gift card.
“We highly encourage the children to include a handwritten note for the troops with their candy,” The Rock River Dental release continued.
Last year, the company shipped over 100 pounds of candy which was distributed to American troops serving overseas, according to the release.
