City declares snow emergency until 6 p.m.

A snow emergency has been declared by Fort Atkinson city officials until 6 p.m. 

Monday’s forecast is calling for 2 to 4 inches of total snowfall.

A snow emergency will be enacted when the city of Fort Atkinson accumulates greater than two inches of snowfall within a 24-hour period. 

Snow removal efforts started Monday at 4 a.m.

Crews will clean the remaining residential areas after the snowfall subsides around 10 a.m. The Department of Public Works anticipates having the city cleaned and salted by early to mid-afternoon on Monday, according to a news release. 

Residents may park in municipal lots apart from the lot directly behind the Fort Atkinson Municipal Building. See parking lot signs for specific rules about parking during snow events, the release stated. 

During inclement weather, the city will provide updates via its website, social media and local media outlets, the release continued.
