Edgerton Tobacco Heritage Days to be held July 15-17

Edgerton Tobacco Heritage Days will take place Friday, July 15, through Sunday, July 17, in Racetrack Park, 1000 Stoughton Rd. 

The price of admission to Racetrack Park is $15 for a weekend wristband for those 18  and older. Children under 18 are free.  Wristbands are on sale at Deegan’s Hardware, Coffee Depot, The Edgerton Pharmacy and the Depot by Edge Events. 

According to a news release, the festival kicks off Friday with a weekend-long citywide rummage sale. The citywide sale begins at 8 a.m.

The festival includes several sporting events all of which will be held in Racetrack park. A men’s softball tournament will begin at 6 p.m., a women’s alumni softball game will begin at 6:30 p.m., and a Little League tournament is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Live music begins with local band Cactus Mother at 5 p.m., followed by Rail Hopper. The band takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. 

On Saturday, a car and truck show is scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., and a pie and ice cream social will be held in front of the downtown Depot beginning at 9 a.m. The social will continue until the pie and ice cream is sold out, according to the release. 

Also on Saturday, a coin toss will be held at the city pool. The event will begin at 2:15 p.m. 

A men’s softball tournament continues Saturday between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Also beginning at 8 a.m. is a 5K “Rascal Run. 

Other events include a pottery festival, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; a Big Wheel Race, from 10-11 a.m.; a Lip Sync talent show, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a tobacco plant judging to be held at noon, kids’ pedal tractor pull, 1-2:30 p.m.; “Gary the Band” performs at 1:30 p.m.; a dinosaur dimensions kids show begins at 2:30 p.m.; Little League tournament continues between 3 and 8:30 p.m., Edgerton Fast Pitch softball commences at 4 p.m.; a variety baseball game will be held between Edgerton and Baraboo at 6:30 p.m.; Bree Morgan Reloaded takes the main stage at 5:30 p.m. and headliner country star Jo Dee Messina will perform at 9:30 p.m., the release stated. 

On Sunday, event-goers of all ages will find free admission into park. 

The day kicks off with a parade, which is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.

Other activities include the continuation of the men’s softball tournament, which will begin at 9 a.m.; a pie-eating contest set to begin at 2 p.m.; an adult bags tournament, which also will begin at 2 p.m.; a performance by Mourning Dayze, which will begin at 3 p.m., and the Albion Tigers will take the field at 2:30 p.m. 

The day continues with an ax throwing contest beginning at 3 p.m., a performance by Dan Reilly, beginning at 7 p.m. and a drawing for raffle prizes scheduled to take place at 8 p.m. 

According to its organizers, Edgerton Tobacco Heritage Days is sponsored at the “platinum” level by:  Morrison’s Auto Parts, IKI Manufacturing, Reitz and Gregeron Dental, J. Becker Construction, Inc., Davis Family Dentistry, Two Brothers Downtown Pub and Grill and Last Nite Bar and Grill. 

Proceeds from the event will benefit local scholarships and other community organizations, according to the release.
