Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU) has announced that it will be partnering with Shred-It to host two community shred events, as part of a series of four, held in 2022.
The next event will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the company’s Watertown branch, 633 Church St.
A final shred event in 2022 will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the FCCU Whitewater branch, 203 E. Milwaukee St.
The events are part of a continuing series of shred events that have been or will be offered in several communities. Events were earlier held in 2022 in Fort Atkinson and Jefferson.
Community members are encouraged to bring their confidential documents to one of the remaining events to be safely destroyed, as a precaution against identity theft, onsite at an FCCU branch, the company noted in a news release.
“There are many preventative steps that a person can take to minimize their risk of identity theft. By hosting these shred events, we hope to encourage community members to dispose of their confidential documents in a safe and secure way. Protecting our members and community members’ information is, and will continue to be, our top priority,” President and CEO of FCCU Sue Johnson was quoted as saying in the release.
During the events, FCCU representatives will be onsite to direct car traffic and assist with the transfer of documents to the shred truck, the release noted.
