FCCU donates $75,000 to Watertown Area YMCA capital campaign

Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU) has announced that it has donated $75,000 in support of a Watertown Area YMCA two-phased construction project.

According to information released by the credit union, the goal of the project’s capital campaign, as the first phase of construction begins, is to raise $17.8 million.

A second phase is anticipated to be funding publicly, with a goal set of $1.7 million.

The first phase includes the construction of a “full YMCA facility” the release stated, which will be located adjacent to the Ehlinger Center, and will include such amenities as gathering and multipurpose program spaces, a “Kids Corner,” a free-weight center, fitness and immersive cycling studios, locker rooms, and a “large gymnasium” and track.

The facility will replace one on Eighth Street, the release continued.

FCCU is proud to contribute to the capital campaign and support the needs of Watertown’s growing community,” Sue Johnson, FCCU president and CEO, was quoted as saying in the release.

“We are so grateful for the Fort Community Credit Union’s continued support and especially thankful that they have deepened their impact in the work we do with this generous gift to the Watertown Area YMCA Capital Campaign” Jon Lange, CEO of the Glacial Community YMCA, noted within the release.

Groundbreaking for the first phase of the project will commence in June.
