Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU) has announced that it has donated more than $2,400 to the Jefferson County Cancer Coalition.
According to information released by the credit union, the proceeds used to make the donation were collected during an annual brat cookout sponsored by the company.
Last month’s cookout was held at the credit union’s main branch in Fort Atkinson.
Items used during the cookout were donated by such vendors as Johnsonville Foods and Kwik Trip, the release stated.
Other items were donated to the event by members of the FCCU staff.
Product donations to the event made it possible to include all proceeds made during the event within a cash donation made to the cancer coalition, the release stated.
The full amount donated to the coalition was $2,430.60.
The Jefferson County Cancer Coalition is a nonprofit organization which offers financial assistance to cancer patients and their families within Jefferson County.
“We are proud to host this event each year to raise funds for such a wonderful, local organization,” Deanna Ugalde, an FCCU credit resolutions specialist and the event organizer, was quoted as saying in an earlier release.
According to the cancer coalition’s website, the group is run by volunteers, and was formed to raise funds to “help friends and neighbors through difficult times.”
The group formed in 2012.
Money donated to the group is used to support area families, with 100% of donations received used to support cancer patients and their families.
The organization notes that it has no paid staff or overhead, according to its website.
Defining its mission, the group notes that it works to assist cancer patients, educate and fund cancer research.
Offering a vision statement, the group provides services to cancer patients to help fight and cope with the disease; provides funding for research, medical diagnosis and treatment, and services, and provides funding for disease education.
