The Fort Atkinson Arts Council (FAC) has announced it is fundraising for the annual $1,000 Jessica Dickinson Holt ART Scholarship. The award is given annually to college bound graduating Fort Atkinson High School students.
According to information released by the FAC, three donors have committed to donate $2,000 if the organization is able to match that amount with donations.
“Art, in all its forms, has played an important role for our community and country this year, helping individuals and families get through the hardest of times through music, painting, books, murals, film and storytelling. The (FAC), with your help, intends to invest in the next generation of artists from Fort Atkinson with this scholarship fund,” the press release stated.
The organization hopes to raise $10,000 by the summer of 2022, which would allow the $1,000 annual scholarship to become an “Acorn Fund,” facilitated through the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation. The move would help to ensure that future young artists will have college support, the release continued.
Those interested in helping FAC reach its goal can make a donation online through PayPal by visiting: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=H3XKYQ4WBHC6G&source=url.
Donations may also be made by check, written to The Fort Arts Council, and mailed to Leslie LaMuro, 316 Craig Street, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538.
