Fort Atkinson’s Scullin releases new single

Katie Scullin, a singer, songwriter and native of Fort Atkinson, has released a new single, “Bloom,” according to a recent news release.

The single will be released Tuesday.

Scullin will debut her new song at the Cafe Carpe in Fort Atkinson Thursday, May 12, performing along with Corey Mathew Hart. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

She also will be playing at Brat Fest at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 29,  on the Grand Stage in Madison.

“Music is not for the ears alone. It should be heard, seen, felt and explored,” Scullin, the daughter of Fort Atkinson residents and Dan and Debbie Scullin, was quoted as saying in the release.

She said her recent studies in multimedia design inspired her to explore new ways to intertwine audio and visual concepts.

“I’m detail-oriented and often guided in my musings by things in nature. I think a lot of this has to do with spending so much of my childhood in the Wisconsin Northwoods with no electricity,” she said.

According to the release, Scullin is an award-winning singer and songwriter who has captivated audiences at festivals and other music venues from Northern Wisconsin to the heart of Texas country.

“Whether performing solo or backed by her band, Scullin’s sound pulls from the influences of pop, rock, and soul, tied together by her signature rhythm guitar, broad vocal range, and newly infused keys,” the release stated.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Scullin began teaching guitar, voice and songwriting. She is building the next stage of her musical career – as a producer and mastering engineer – while continuing to tour and record her own music, the release explained.

While on tour, Scullin has opened for or shared billing with acts such as Jay Leno, Bret Michaels, Uncle Kracker, Charlie Berens, composer Miles Neilsen, country star Gwen Sebastian, Big Sean, Bone Thugs and Harmony, and more.

In 2019, Scullin was voted Best of Madison-Gold and Best Musician/Band by the Daily Jefferson County Union Readers Poll, the release noted.

In 2017, she released a full-length album called “Pieces.” The track “Porch Hangs” reached number one on the Top 41 by WSUM/Max Ink Radio, landing her on the cover of “Maximum Ink Magazine.”

“She proceeded to take home an award for Best Pop/R&B Song at the Madison Area Music Awards,” the release stated.

According to the release, additional accolades include Best Singer Songwriter for 105.5 Project Mn in 2014; Madison Area Music (MAMA) award for her work with the winning techno-pop group Star Persons in 2011; and Emerging Artist Series Summerfest winner with band Rivalry in 2009.

Scullin said her recent work teaching and her studies in record mastering engineer concepts has led to some of her most rewarding experiences. She continues to write, collaborate, and explore the ever-changing world of the music business with other artists around the U.S., while also laying the groundwork for her own production studio, the release read.
