Fort chamber announces winners of jingle contest

The Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce has announced it has selected four winners of the Fort Atkinson Jingle Contest.

The contest, which was announced in September, was developed through the Fort Atkinson Tourism Department in conjunction with the chamber to promote Fort Atkinson as a fun place to live, work and play.

In September, the chamber invited community members of all variety, including individuals, school groups, choirs, bands, and even people, according to a news release, “who normally just sing alone in their cars,” to enter.

Participants were encouraged to submit a video or audio clip of the musical submission, with winners of the contest promised “bragging rights” and prizes.

According to a recent news release, submissions for the contest were due Nov. 1, and since that deadline, four winners have been selected by a panel of judges.

Winners include Mark Nordeen, who won first place for his jingle and will be receiving $150 in chamber bucks, along with the honor of having his jingle used in “the most” radio ads, the release stated. Second-place awards and recognition goes to Len Mormino, who will be receiving $75 worth of chamber bucks. The third-place winner is Robert “Scott” Marshall, who will be the recipient of $50 worth of chamber bucks, and fourth-place goes to a fifth-grade choir directed by School District of Fort Atkinson general music teacher Jenna Fechtner.

Within the release, chamber officials note that the jingles will be playing on area radio stations throughout the holidays and beyond.

Inspired by the submissions the chamber received, Fort Atkinson Tourism Manager Holly Tierney was quoted in the release as saying: “The creative talent of the musicians who sent in jingles was outstanding. Submissions came in from locals as well as from musicians as far away as Ohio. Amateurs and professionals participated. The contest was fun for everyone involved and resulted in plenty of material that can be used to help raise awareness about what a great place Fort Atkinson is to visit.”
