Fort Chamber seeks holiday parade participants

The Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that it is seeking participants for its annual holiday parade.

According to a news release, the event is slated for Saturday, Nov. 12.

The event is in its 26th year.

Entries for the parade are being sought from businesses, schools, churches, youth groups and civic organizations, the release noted.

Registration forms are available at www.fortchamber.com and at the chamber office, 244 North Main St., and can be obtained between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 14.

Participation is limited to 50 entries and the chamber parade committee will give final approval to all applications. Entries must be lighted and feature a holiday theme, the release stated.

This year’s parade staging location will be on South High Street near the water tower and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. The parade route is as follows: Milwaukee Avenue, through downtown Main Street, with all motorized or animal-drawn floats continuing to Madison Avenue and onto Robert Street, with a return to the parade’s starting point. All walking entries return to the starting point via the bike trail, the release noted.

The Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce encourages parade guests to bring a can of non-perishable food to the parade. St. Paul’s Lutheran School collects the items as part of its annual food drive and donates them to the Fort Atkinson Food Pantry.

Directly after the parade, guests are invited to join the United Way for its popular Chili Cook-Off, which will be held downtown at the municipal building. “Mr. and Mrs. Claus” will be on hand to greet event-goers and pose for photographs, according to the release.
