Fort Lions Club offers ‘hot meal’ during ‘gatherings’ held September through May

The Fort Atkinson Lions Club is seeking new members, according to information released by the club earlier this week.

Those interested in learning about the club are encouraged to join in one of two “gatherings” offered each month between September and May, and held at the American Legion Post 166 Dugout and Banquet Hall, 201-211 South Water St., East, Fort Atkinson. The gatherings include a hot meal that is served at 6:15 p.m., according to the release.

Club members often gather earlier than the scheduled mealtime to socialize, the release noted.

Those attending the gatherings will find “like-minded individuals who want to serve our community,” the release stated.

To learn more about club membership, the gatherings, and the meal, contact club member Kevin Becker, by phone: 920-650-8005 or visit the club’s website:  www.e-clubhouse.org/sites/fortatkinson.

According to the release, Lions Clubs International is the largest service club organization in the world, with 1.4 million members. Since 1917, Lions clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired, championed youth initiatives, and strengthened communities through hands-on service and humanitarian projects. The organization motto is “We Serve.” The mission statement of Lions Clubs International is to “empower Lions clubs, volunteers, and partners to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian service and grants that impact lives globally, and encourage peace and international understanding.” Lions Clubs International also supports humanitarian causes such as the environment, diabetes, pediatric cancer, and eliminating hunger.

Additionally, the release noted, Tom Williamson joined the organization as a new member. He was welcomed into the group earlier this year.

Williamson is a city of Fort Atkinson employee since 2018 and has lived in the area since 2020.

Since joining the group, the release reported, “Tom jumped right in and participated in our highway cleanup.”

He was presented with a club name tag and pin by his sponsor, Michelle Ebbert, in May.
