The Unity Project of Fort Atkinson and Unity Project of Watertown have announced that they will be hosting National Coming Out Day events.
According to a news release, National Coming Out Day is celebrated annually Oct. 11.
The national day of recognition was created to encourage LGBTQ+ individuals who have not come out as LGBTQ+ to come out to their families, friends and community.
Events are family friendly and all members of the community are invited, the release states.
Fort Atkinson event
The National Coming Out day event in Fort Atkinson will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, 10 a.m. to noon, on the Main Street bridge.
Members of the LGBTQ+ community and their advocates will arrive on the Main Street bridge to celebrate those who may have recently come out or encourage them to do so in the future. Following the gathering on the bridge, attendees are encouraged to reassembly at Paddy Coughlin’s Pub, 14 Sherman Ave., E., Fort Atkinson, to continue the celebration, the release noted.
Watertown event
The National Coming Out day event in Watertown will be held Friday, Oct. 14, 2-7 p.m., at the Moravian Church, 510 Cole St.
The organizers request those planning to attend to RSVP on their Unity Project Watertown Facebook page, the release stated.
