Fort’s Sachse named Milton police chief

By Kim McDarison

Capt. Brandon Sachse, of the Fort Atkinson Police Department, will begin serving as the chief of the Milton Police Department next month.

Milton City Clerk Jenny Salvo said Wednesday that while the Milton Police Commission had earlier appointed Sachse as the chief in Milton, a final piece in the recruitment process was completed Tuesday after the Milton City Council approved a compensation package for the chief.

That approval came during the council’s regularly scheduled meeting, Salvo noted.

Salvo said Sachse’s first day as chief in Milton will be Oct. 23.

According to the terms of the agreement with the city of Milton, Sachse will be paid $100,000 annually. The terms state that the position is not eligible for overtime or compensatory time.

Additionally, the city will provide its chief with a $1,000 allowance for clothing, with a continued annual allowance of $850.

The chief also will earn paid time off for a total of 253 hours per each calendar year. The position also is eligible to receive paid time off for 10 holidays and three personal days.

The chief will be included in the Wisconsin Retirement System, and receive dental, vision, life and health insurance.
