Fort Atkinson City Clerk Michelle Ebbert confirmed Wednesday that four candidates will be running during the spring general election for three seats on the Fort Atkinson City Council.
Candidates whose names will appear on the April ballot include two incumbents — Mason Becker and Megan Hartwick — and two challengers — Kyle Jaeckel and John Donohue.
A third incumbent, Chris Scherer, filed notification of non-candidacy with the city clerk’s office in December.
Council members serve at-large and for two-year terms. The Fort Atkinson city council is a five-member board.
Among incumbents running for reelection, Hartwick will be seeking her second term in office while Becker will be seeking a fifth term.
Among challengers, in December, Jaeckel published the following statement on his Facebook page: “As many of my close friends may know already, I have deciced to run for Fort Atkinson City Council. But after talking to many people one thing keeps coming up, new blood and common sense is what this city needs. Although I won’t promise to change everything, I will do my best to bring the common sense solutions back to the city.”
