Fort Atkinson High School presented its Winter Holiday Concert Sunday, Dec. 11, in the school’s Performing Arts Center.
Participating were the Blackhawk Chorale, Chamber Choir, Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.
In addition to the student musicians, the concert featured music educators Bill Callaway, Kiah Snow and Justin Steger and pianist James Athas.
The combined musical groups performed “A Hoist Christmas” and “Somewhere in My Memory,” while the combined orchestras presented “Anvil Chorus from ‘Il Trovatore’” and combined bands played “Jingle Bells Forever.” The combined choirs performed “We Wish You the Merriest.”
Individual groups’ musical numbers included “Seal Lullaby” and “Noel” by the Chamber Choir, “Waltz No. 2” and “This is Halloween” by the Symphony Orchestra and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “Celebration of Hanukkah” by the Symphonic Band.
Also, “Antiphona Deck the Hall” by the Blackhawk Chorale, “Patapan” and “Whisper to their Souls” by the Wind Ensemble and “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” and “Gabriel’s Oboe” with Abbey Michalak on violin by the Philharmonic Orchestra.
Upcoming events include the Midwinter Show Choir Concert, 3 p.m. Jan. 22; Midwinter Jazz Concert, 7 p.m. Jan. 23; Fort Show Choir Showcase, Feb. 10 and 11; Band Pops Concert, 2 p.m. Feb. 19; Festival of Choirs, 7 p.m. March 2; and Orchestra Dessert Concert, 1 p.m. March 5.
