“Great movies, great music” is the theme of the next community band concert, according to information released by Fort Atkinson Community Band Director Wayne Crook.
The concert will be held Monday, Aug. 1, in Fort Atkinson’s Barrie Park.
The concert will began at 7 p.m.
According to the release, the program feature ten award-winning motion picture themes and songs from past years.
“Motion picture music is always exciting to enjoy. Many of the academy-award-winning scores for best original score and best original song will be performed,” Crook was quoted as saying in the release.
The upcoming concert will begin earlier than previously held concerts with it start time of 7 p.m., he noted.
The earlier start time will be in effect for the next two concerts, he said.
The final concert of the season will be held Aug. 15.
Concerts will be canceled in the event of rain.
On Monday, guest soloist — vocalist Gwen Hurst — who will sing “Over the Rainbow” from the movie “The Wizard of Oz,” will be featured.
The full list of songs includes: “Ukrainian National Anthem,” “Star Spangled Banner,” “Magnificent Seven,” “Exodus,” “Patton Theme,” “King Cotton,” “Over The Rainbow,” “Tunes of Glory,” “Music of James Bond,” “Lara’s Theme,” “Highlights from Sound of Music,” and “The Great Race.”
Admission to the concert is free and chairs will be set up for concert-goers by the Fort Atkinson Parks and Recreation Department.
Concert-goers also are invited to bring their own chairs and blankets, the release stated.
