Haumerson’s Pond ready for Saturday ski and hike

Crews were clearing the ice at Haumerson’s Pond Friday morning after 4-5 inches of snow fell overnight.

That means the pond will be in shape for the Family Candlelight Ski & Hike slated for 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.

Activities include ice skating, Eistock, curling, hockey, limbo, hiking and skiing on the Bark River Nature Park trails, games, Yeti tracking and crafts.

Snow dogs from H2M2-WI Snow dogs will be available for attendees to meet and pose for photographs.

There will be live music in the warminghouse. Snacks and hot chocolate will be available for purchase.

Ski and skate rentals are available at 2Rivers Bicycle & Outdoors.

The free event is sponsored by the Friends of Haumerson’s Pond.

Cosponsors include Agency Insurance, Wayne Hayes Realty, Fort HealthCare, Badger Basement Systems, PremierBank, Fort Community Credit Union and Beauty & the Bean.

Haumerson’s Pond is located at 550 S. Fourth St. East, just east of Fort Atkinson Middle School.

The ice is made ready Friday for a ski and hike event planned for Saturday at Haumerson’s Pond. Chris Spangler photos.
