Herbert ‘Herb’ Paul Hein, Jr.

Herbert (Herb) Paul Hein Jr., 86 of Whitewater, WI passed away peacefully at Copperleaf Assisted Living in Ripon, WI on June 29th, 2022. Herb was born on April 4th, 1936 in Stoughton, WI to Herbert and Thelma Hein.

Herb was raised on the family farm in Edgerton, WI until he moved to Billings, MT in his 30’s. He went on to open “Herb’s Gun Shop”, race cars, hunt, and fish. He later moved back to Edgerton, WI, and purchased a cabin in Richland Center, WI. Herb spent a lot of time at the cabin and lived there for many years, he enjoyed the views on Charlie’s ridge, hunting, gardening, and watching the wildlife. He moved to the Fort Atkinson/Whitewater area later in life to be closer to family. He always had a garden and bird feeder wherever he lived. 

Herb is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Thelma Hein, and sister, Doris (Hein) Vingham. He is survived by his children Colleen Brashier of Lancaster, TX, Craig (Lisa) Hein of Hanover, WI, Chris (Edie) Hein of Mukwonago, WI, Chad (Terry) of Fort Atkinson, WI, and Don (Cari) Baxter of Billings, MT. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Brandon (Mags), Andy (Diana), Brittany (Keith), Matthew (Rachel), Eric, Tracy, Kristen (David), Carlee (Jordan), Cade, DJ (Adarie), Allyssa (Joe), many great-grandchildren, and significant others, Jean, Joann, and Betty.

Following Herb’s wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest at his favorite spot at the cabin. There will be no service.
