A history of Jones Dairy Farm in Fort Atkinson is the subject of an upcoming FACTalk, according to information released by the Fort Atkinson Community Club.
The organization has presented various topics over the years as part of an annually held ongoing lecture series.
Talks within the series are free and open to the public.
The next talk in the series, featuring Jones Dairy Farm history, will be held this Wednesday, at the Fort Atkinson Club community center, 211 S. Water St., E., and will include an opportunity to sample Jones Dairy Farm products, beginning at 6 p.m., with a presentation made by Cole Jones, beginning at 7 p.m.
As stated in information supplied by the Fort Atkinson Club, Jones Dairy Farm is “one of the oldest continuing businesses in Fort Atkinson.”
According to the Jones Dairy Farm website, the company has been a family-owned business based in Fort Atkinson for more than 130 years.
Begun in 1889 by Milo C. Jones, the company was described, on its website, as “simpler” during its inception, noting that “the industry has changed a lot in the past 130-plus years, making food production faster and cheeper.” Still, the website noted, the company does not “add anything artificial to our sausage recipes.”
The company boasts seven generations of family involvement.
Today, the company’s CEO is Philip Jones, who, according to the website, is the great-great grandson of Milo.
According to the club’s website, FACTalks are held Wednesdays, at 7 p.m.
In 2023, the club, through its lecture series, has hosted such presenters as Merrilee Lee, the director of the Hoard Historical Museum in Fort Atkinson; Harriet Scherer, who has served as a docent and tour guide at the city’s 1901-built water tower, and Elizabeth Hilton, the national register coordinator at the Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office.
