The Homeless Coalition of Fort Atkinson will be sponsoring a Homelessness Vigil to promote awareness and to raise funds for homelessness in the Fort Atkinson area.
The vigil will take place in Jones Park in Fort Atkinson, near the concession stand, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. The event is scheduled to coincide with the Winter Solstice, according to event organizers.
Participants will find music, hot chocolate and cookies, information released by the coalition stated.
“We will warm our souls with a prayer from “Pastor Maribel,” and sobering statistics from Kenny Strege, vice president of the Homeless Coalition and a Jefferson County Human Services worker,” coalition president Jude Hartwick said within the release.
During the vigil, participants will be asked to remember Keith Lueloff, “who died from exposure a few years ago, as well as the many individuals and families who suffer from not having a stable place to live,” Hartwick continued.
He encouraged community members to “join us in our fight to end homelessness in our area.”
Those who are unable to attend the vigil, but would like to make a donation, may do so by sending contributions to the Homeless Coalition of Fort Atkinson, P.O. Box 785, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538.
