Industry training materials created by Jerry Price, broker/owner of Professional Services Group, a Fort Atkinson-based insurance company, have been recognized by the Wisconsin insurance commissioner, according to information released by Professional Services Group.
Price has taught 100 courses, with the 100th recently recognized through certification by the commission. The course is one among others offered within several educational insurance categories that Price, a Fort Atkinson resident, has developed, the release continued. Courses are designed to specifically help insurance agents develop solutions drawn from a client’s experiences, the release stated.
Material developed by Price — including client white papers, general consumer insurance information handouts, agent education programs and textbooks for individuals preparing to engage with a state licensing exam — were derived from his time spent as an agent, interacting and researching solutions for those affected by insurance, according to the release.
Within the release, Price said the joy of learning and research led him to share and clarify what he learned.
Price, within the release, said his experience with developing industry-level teaching materials began when he taught a Wisconsin Pre-licensing Exam course. He said he found textbooks on the subject lacking in terms of accuracy of information. In response, the release noted, he wrote a textbook about life and health insurance design, which he offered as a consumer learning guide.
“The insurance exam is a difficult exam. For many of those entering the insurance profession, this is a career change. The language of the insurance industry adds to the exam’s difficulty,” Price was quoted as saying in the release.
The learning guide is written at a consumer level of understanding, he said.
According to the release, additional consumer publications developed by Price include a personal records reference book and a series of one-page, single-topic, non-advertising consumer white papers.
Additionally, he has developed consumer outreach seminars such as “Kids’ Kash for Kollege” and a two-hour consumer “Wiser Driver” course about cars and driving.
Price’s industry-specific publications include a mortgage broker textbook, study guides about Wisconsin insurance law, a portfolio of practice state exam questions for property, casualty, life and health insurance, and corporate agent training manuals.
Among his experiences, price has served at the university-level as an associate adjunct professor, the release stated.
