Jefferson County Democrats to open office in Fort 

The Jefferson County Democrats have announced that they will be opening an office in Fort Atkinson.

The office, 916 Madison Ave., a recent news release noted, will have a “soft opening” Sunday, Sept. 1., and will “open for business” Tuesday, Sept. 3.

The release described the office’s location as “the old Kent’s Big Bar Ice Cream building.” 

The office will be open to the public Tuesdays, between 5 and 7 p.m.; Thursdays, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Saturdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Visitors to the office can “connect and talk with like-minded people,” the release stated, and  pick up yard signs, although, “Harris/Walz” signs are not yet available, the release continued. They also can make donations of time or money to the Democratic Party, according to the release.

Members of the party additionally will be organizing efforts to knock on doors on behalf of party candidates running for office in November, the release stated.

The party also will be sending out postcards and making phone calls on behalf of its candidates, the release read.

Further,  the release noted, the party will be hosting a meeting during which several Democratic candidates, including Melissa Ratcliff, who is running to represent the state’s Senate District 16; Joan Fitzgerald, who is running to represent the state’s Assembly District 46, and Ben Steinhoff, who is running to represent Wisconsin constituents in Congressional District 5, will be available to meet voters. Meeting details are yet to be determined, the release stated.
