Little Free Libraries scavenger hunt a success

Fort Atkinson-area residents headed outdoors for fresh air and fun during Saturday’s Little Free Library Scavenger Hunt.

It was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in conjunction with the National Day of Unplugging, celebrating the 12th year of helping people take a break from their technological devices.

The event was one of countless scavenger hunts around the world, with participants having a chance to win a prize at www.nationaldayofunplugging.com

But everyone was a winner, as they not only had family fun, but also were able to exchange books and take children’s reading materials home with them.

The event was spearheaded locally by Kaitlin Myren-Celkis, steward of Little Free Library No. 114040, and Little Free Library No. 4441 steward Michelle Oczus Whisner.

For participants, clues and riddles were taped to participating Little Free Libraries. Altogether, the city has 22 of them.

For those who could not participate in the scavenger hunt March 6, many of the Little Free Libraries will keep their clue up until March 12.

Tanner took a cellphone photo of the clue and then his brother and sister joined him to check out the books available for free at the East Sherman Avenue Little Free Library.
