Motorcyclist dies after two-vehicle crash in town of Jefferson

Editor’s note: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has shared for publication information about a two-vehicle crash in the town of Jefferson which occurred earlier this month. The information came in two separate releases, both of which are published in their entirety below.

November 15, 2024

Sheriff Travis Maze reports that on November 15, 2024 at 2:25 p.m., Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on STH 89 north of CTH Q in the Town of Jefferson.

Preliminary investigation at the scene shows that a motorcycle was traveling northbound on STH 89 when it was struck from behind.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported by Med-Flight with critical injuries. The lone occupant of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Jefferson Fire and EMS.

The incident is still being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and STH 89 will be closed until 6:00 p.m.

Sheriff Travis Maze reports that the driver of the motorcycle involved in the crash on November 15th has succumb to their injuries. The investigation is ongoing by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Our sympathy goes out to all parties impacted by this tragic incident.
