MSI General Corporation has announced that it has been selected by Green Bay Packaging, Inc., to design and construct an addition for its Wisconsin Packaging Division building in Fort Atkinson.
A site plan for the addition was approved by the city’s Plan Commission in July. The building is located at 104 East Blackhawk Dr.
As reported earlier by Fort Atkinson Online, Green Bay Packaging’s 10-acre site includes an approximately 143,000-square-foot facility. The eastern side of the property includes an ingress/egress point from Blackhawk Drive for truck loading/unloading. Two access points farther west are for employee and visitor parking.
The development impacts 3.7 acres of the far eastern portion of the property. Plans call for an 11,207-square-foot addition to the existing building and an approximately 1.5-acre paved area addition to accommodate a new loading/unloading and parking area on the eastern side of the site.
Green Bay Packaging acquired Wisconsin Packaging in 2018, according to Wisconsin Packaging founder Fred Negus.
According to the MSI release, construction of the addition is scheduled to begin this month.
According to information shared with Fort Atkinson Online by Negus, Wisconsin Packaging was begun in 1986 and operated by Negus and his father for 32 years before the company was sold to Green Bay Packaging.
In an online message to Fort Atkinson Online, Negus said he was “delighted” with Green Bay Packaging’s investment in Fort Atkinson.
Information included in the MSI news release about Green Bay Packaging states: “Established in 1933, Green Bay Packaging is a family-owned, vertically integrated manufacturing company producing corrugated containers, folding cartons, recycled and virgin linerboard paper, and pressure-sensitive label roll-stock. Additionally, the company manages its own timberlands and a sawmill facility.
“Headquartered in Green Bay, Wis., Green Bay Packaging is dedicated to the innovative development of its products and forestry resources, focusing on quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement throughout all of its manufacturing facilities.”
In Addition, the release includes information about MSI, noting: “MSI General is a leading design build construction company in Wisconsin. Our talented, award-winning architectural design team is supported by a high-paced and experienced operations and construction team. Our seasoned superintendents, project managers and estimators/expeditors deliver our construction and remodeling projects both on budget and on time.”
The company has been in business for more than 60 years, the release noted, describing it as a privately held, third-generation, veteran-owned firm.
