Old World Wisconsin is a 600-acre outdoor museum, featuring 60 restored historical structures. The property, located in Eagle, is one of 12 sites owned and operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society, according to its website.

The Unity Project meeting will be held Tuesday, July 19, at 7 p.m., in the community room at the Dwight Foster Public Library, 209 Merchants Ave., Fort Atkinson.

According to information released by the Unity Project, Altschwager will provide “an introduction to the practice of public history.”

The release continued: “Explore how history changes every day and ask yourself what it means to be a good ancestor. Hear the latest on how OWW (Old World Wisconsin) is working to rewrite the story of Pleasant Ridge, a community founded by Black settlers in (Iowa County, Wis.) that no longer exists, through community co-creation. And find out how you can get involved in the future of history with local initiatives and programs.”

According to the release, the Unity Project is a nonprofit organization committed to ensuring each member of the community feels equally welcomed. Membership is not required to attend meetings.
