One dead after truck strikes tree in town of Jefferson 

Jefferson County Sheriff Travis Maze, releasing information Saturday, stated that deputies responded to a fatal vehicle crash in the town of Jefferson.

According to the release, deputies responded Saturday at 12:48 a.m. to a crash scene on County Trunk N.

A preliminary investigation at the scene showed that the vehicle, described as a “truck,” was traveling southbound on the county highway when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The truck reportedly “left the roadway.” It then “struck a tree and overturned before coming to a rest upright.”

The release noted that the driver of the truck was the vehicle’s lone occupant. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details about the driver were released.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Fort Atkinson Fire Department and the Jefferson County medical examiner.

The incident remains under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the release read.
